About the Presenter


Lauren Toole is an Assistant Public Defender with the Wake County Public Defender's Office, where she has represented clients in criminal defense matters since February 2021. Her practice focuses on zealous advocacy for individuals facing criminal charges in North Carolina state court.


Prior to her current role, Ms. Toole served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the North Carolina Court of Appeals from August 2019 through December 2020, where she gained valuable insight into appellate procedure and legal analysis. During law school, she worked as a Spring Legal Extern with the Wake County Public Defender's Office and completed a Summer Legal Internship with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender's Office. She also served as a Criminal Defense Intern at The Bronx Defenders in New York.
